I have worked as a journalist for more years than I care to remember. It’s certainly an interesting way to earn a living.
Print journalism
I was Consumer Editor on City Limits magazine, a London listings mag before moving to the London Evening Standard where I was deputy editor (then editor) of Metropolis (the youth arts pages – in other words, license to party). I was on contract to the Daily Mail for several years, writing the popular Self pages (road-testing natural therapies). I was also a contributing editor to ELLE.
I have written for most of the UK national newspapers (Daily Mail, Telegraph, Express, Mirror, Guardian, Times) and a fair number of the glossy women’s magazines (Red, Cosmopolitan, Psychologies, Woman & Home, ELLE, Harper’s etc.). I’ve also written for many health titles, including Healthy, Health & Fitness, Here’s Health, Experience Life, Zest, Natural Health and Top Sante.
My work has been syndicated worldwide.
I have a regular column in Natural Health magazine.
Although I am mainly known for my writing on health and wellbeing, I have written on most topics during my long and varied career. Features have ranged from tantric sex, the search for immortality and tree-spiking to sleep-eating and cosmic orgasms.
Television and radio
I have made a lot of appearances on TV and radio over the years. Can’t remember them all but a few that stick in the mind (for various reasons) include:
* Smudging Lorraine Kelly on her morning show
* Discussing sex with Esther Rantzen
* Live Q&A on BBC2’s Heaven and Earth show (after no sleep)
* Taking Liz Jones to task on Woman’s Hour over her stance on Exmoor
